AMAGERBROGADE 216B
reimaginates two intimate sound events in one of the apartments on Amager, southern Copenhagen.
Two outstanding concerts: Kaja Draksler solo on the piano and Vincent Yuen Ruiz solo on the double
bass, recorded on a mini cassette.
These recordings are part of my work, in which at the time I asked about the meaning of the term
“field” in the context of broadly defined field recording. Hence my treatment of a concert event as a
soundscape and the very fact of recording as my form of participation in it, such a bagatelle. Choosing
the medium of the tape is not a sentimental tribute but simply a form of my interference in the heard
soundscape.

The act of my interference in the audiosphere created mainly by Kaja, is reduced to the recording itself
and small manipulations of time. For the jittery piano it seems natural to interact with a unstable,
floating tape. One could say that they cheer each other on, emphasizing the character of both acts. - Vincent
With his composition, Vincent celebrates the potential of silence, putting resonance of his instrument
as a paraller matter for observation. The tape substitutes silence with vibrating hum and the dictaphone’s motor. Underneath the multidimensional noise, however, another soundscape seems to emerge (perhaps blurred by a current event?), and it becomes, along with the wonderful resonances of the double bass, the main field for interaction.

This piece from the Default Logic series is a reverie on the musicality of field recordings. It stems from my attempts to integrate acoustic instruments with heard sound environments. At the same time, I lean into memory, and it is memory that, in the face of the new formula prepared for Radio Zyjnia, comes to the fore. Anamnesis, Remanence and Phonomnesis – notions taken from the concept of “Sonic effects,” which aims to understand and describe the phenomena occurring in sonic environments (mainly urban) – were my original guidelines for the composition.
The Default Logic series is an attempt to address the issue of perception and the complexity of the processes that constitute it.

OSMOSIS:: Poznań – – Berlin – laboratory focused on relation of the sound and physical movement, exchange between Berlin and Poznań based artists, May 24th and 25th 2014 in Poznań at Centrum Kultury Zamek.
The project engages in a dialogue between performance oriented research and experientially focused exploration. The concluding performances contextualize the laboratory within the physical and public spaces of Poznan, and bring our attention to the circumstantial nature of artistic creation.
This project echoes a previous project Friv Move led by Patryk Lichota and Marta Romaszkan in the Zamek Cultural Center of Poznan 2013/2014 (zamek.poznan.pl/sub,en,366,friv-move-castle.html). As in Friv Move, the present project focuses on the encounter between musicians and dancers, but also aims to expand this encounter by including researchers based in Berlin as well as Poznan, thereby facilitating new collaborations among the experimental artists’ community and supporting the cultural exchange between the two neighboring cities.
